Superheroes Number 42 - Paul Deas

One of the most significant signings made during the Kevin Drinkell/Ray Stewart period was that of Paul Deas, who came from St Johnstone. Many people were surprised that the Under 21 Internationalist agreed to come to Forthbank, but that was down mainly to his previous contact with Ray Stewart. Ray convinced him that he could rebuild his career at Stirling, and actually take things forward.

Deasy took a few weeks to settle at Forthbank, but once he established himself he became a firm favourite. His displays at left back in 1995/96 and subsequently in Division One were outstanding.

What made him an Albion ‘superhero’ was more than just his ability on the field. Paul was also a player of tremendous integrity and honesty, and was a tremendous ambassador for the club.

In 1997 he decided to continue his University studies at Loughborough. He asked to be released by Albion – but when the course didn’t work out, he came straight back to the club. He then went to Moray House in Edinburgh, where he trained as a PE teacher. Paul now plays with Brechin City, after a spell with Livingston whom he joined at the end of his contract with Albion.
