Division Two Report Card – Season 2004/05 - August

Last updated : 30 August 2004 By Rave On Line Editor

Alloa Athletic

Manager – Tom Hendrie

Good cup form with victories over Elgin City and St Johnstone, but defeats in their first two league games. Could it be that the suspension of Stuart Callaghan from League matches has made available for the Cup ties.

Verdict - Inconsistent

Arbroath

Manager – Stevie Kirk

Pressure is already mounting on boss Steve Kirk after four straight defeats including First Round exits from both Cups at the hands of the Third Division clubs.

Verdict – Must do better

Ayr United

Manager –

Campbell Money

Starting to adjust to life in Division Two, as witnessed by a hard fought win over Berwick Rangers last week. That compensated for defeat at the hands of Dumbarton on the opening day of the league season.

Verdict – Need time to settle

Berwick Rangers

Manager – Paul Smith

Made a great start with a win over Morton but then came of the rails at Ayr. Will be looking forward greatly to their visit to Aberdeen in the next round of the CIS Insurance League Cup.

Verdict – Show considerable Promise

Brechin City

Manager –

Dick Campbell

Dick Campbell must have been choking on his bunnet after their 3-0 home defeat at the hands of ourselves last week. They needed extra time to beat Cowdenbeath in the CIS Cup and currently have no league points.

Verdict – Not fulfilling Potential

Dumbarton

Manager – Brian Fairley

Two wins in the league and two first round cup defeats. A reasonable start to the season in line with what Brian Fairly would have wanted.

Verdict – Excellent Progress

Forfar Athletic

Manager – Ray Stewart

Ray Stewart will be cook-a-hoop and with six league points and Cup wins over Morton and St Mirren. They can expect to give Dundee a tough game in the CIS Cup next week.

Verdict – Top of the Class

Greenock Morton

Manager –

John McCormack

Got their act together with a 3-1 win over Stranraer last week. Many people are predicting the demise of manager John McCormack.

Verdict – Need to sort themselves out quickly

Stranraer

Manager – Neil Watt

Good win over Alloa and still in both cups. Last week’s defeat at Morton will have been a significant disappointment.

Verdict – Have the potential to do very well
