Stranraer saw their lead over third-placed Morton cut to just four points after being held at Forthbank. The result was hardly a surprise though. This was the fifth draw in the last six meetings between the teams and Albion haven't lost to the Blues over the past two seasons.

The game started slowly and the opening goal came out of the blue after 27 minutes. Stranraer's Michael Moore was fouled just outside the box, and Lee Sharp flighted the ball just inside the right-hand post from the resulting free-kick, when most people expected him to go for the other corner.

Stranraer then enjoyed their best spell of the game, and Myles Hogarth made a terrific close-range stop from Paul McManus before Stephen Swift hooked an effort inches wide.

Stirling were much improved after the break and levelled after 53 minutes when Chris Aitken, just back from a two-match ban, cracked a superb shot into the top corner.

Stranraer were defending deep and seemed to be content with a point as Albion enjoyed the bulk of the second-half possession. The Binos almost snatched a winner with 13 minutes left, but substitute Martin Glancy thumped a volley against the top of the crossbar.

The visitors' assistant manager Stuart Millar made a welcome return to the dug-out after illness, but he and the rest of the Stranraer camp face a testing few weeks and a possible promotion decider with Morton at Stair Park on April 30.
