Berwick Rangers 0 Stirling Albion 1

The stats are piling up for Berwick. This was a seventh home defeat in a row, they have yet to score and new manager Sandy Clark and luck has deserted them.

Stirling gained their first win in seven, and on their second half display deserved it against opponents who fought hard but lacked guile.

The winning goal 12 minutes from time was controversial with Mick Galloway fouled by Rangers' new boy Pat Clarke. It was a soft award, but Scott McLean crashed the spot-kick home.

Rangers had escaped earlier when David O'Brien did appear to be pulled down with the goal at his mercy. Just before the end Gary O'Connor pulled off a super save from Scott McLean.

Pat Clarke had an excellent debut. He started with a fierce shot saved by Myles Hogarth. He then went close again when Kevin Gordon created a chance after a solo run.

In the second half the on-loan striker had a goal chalked off. Berwick worked hard, but they failed to cash in on their chances and their day was summed up when Gareth Hutchison, the league's top scorer last season, was subbed after offering little.
