Young Reds Column - November Update

This season is the 8th season of the Young Reds. For those of you who are unaware what the Young Reds is, it is the official Junior Supporters Scheme of Stirling Albion Football Club.

It is administered by a voluntary committee, with the full backing of the Management, Players and Directors of Stirling Albion.

We are pleased that the majority of members have re-enrolled this year but there are a number who have not returned their forms. Soccer Sevens

After a break of 2 weeks due to school holidays and Stirlingshire Cup Final, the Soccer Sevens have resumed. We now have 96 children enrolled, which is a record high and we are pleased that so many children come along. In fact, 23 of those children have not missed a session.

We would also like to congratulate the youth players who help with the coaching and who were involved in the Stirlingshire Cup Final. A special mention should be made for Sean Roycroft who scored, what turned out to be, the winning penalty.

Finally, participants are reminded to wear suitable clothing for the weather. It can be very cold at Forthbank when the wind blows, therefore, wearing t shirts is not recommended.

Player Sponsorship

This season the Young Reds are sponsoring Martin Glancy. We wish Martin every success with the club.

Admission Price

Admission to league matches this season will be £4-00 and not £3-00 as indicated in the renewal letters which have been issued.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Merchandise

This year’s free gift, a torch keyring, should now be in the club shop. Members can collect it by taking along their voucher and exchange it for the gift.

We also hope to have the Club Shop open on the last 3 Tuesdays of the Soccer Sevens i.e. 16th, 23rd and 30th November. If you have anything which you would the shop to stock, speak to Fiona who would be willing to investigate the possibility of stocking more merchandise.

Kingsmill Tokens

We have collected 1332 tokens and would like to thank everybody who donated tokens to the Young Reds. We know that a lot of bread must have been eaten to get this amount.

We are looking at what we can get with these tokens and will let you know what we have purchased in due course.

Newsletter

We hope to produce the first newsletter of the season by the middle of November. It will contain information about the Ten Pin Bowling Night. We also intend to take a party of members to the Dumbarton match on 5th February and organise a Soccer Sevens Festival with Alloa’s Young Wasps on 19th February. More information will be given as soon as the details have been finalised.
