#2 – Douglas Park, Hamilton.

Now the car Park of the ubiquitous warehouse-shopping complex, Douglas Park is a sad loss. It was another of Scottish football’s idiosyncratic venues. The old stand, dating from 1913, was unique in the game and gave the ground a certain charm. The steep terracing at the Fulwood Foundry end of the ground afforded as good a view as any terracing in Scotland in the day’s before segregation restricted the ritual changing of ends at half-time.

Thankfully Accies are now back playing in Hamilton, with New Douglas Park only a stone’s throw from the Old Douglas Park. It took a few years, but the wait was well worth it, with two beautiful stands, one of which helps earn the club a nice sum of money through renting the office space at the back. The stadium has also had a new Astroturf pitch laid in time for the new season.
